Australia, September 11 2024 – Advanced Navigation, a world leader in assured positioning navigation and timing (APNT) technologies, with Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA), global leaders in spacecraft engines, aircraft components and defense solutions, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-develop strategic-grade APNT solutions.

With low-cost GPS jamming and spoofing technologies becoming widely available, relying solely on GPS for navigation has become an increasingly risky option for armored combat vehicles. Despite the dangers, many defense fleets around the world remain ill-equipped to navigate effectively through contested environments where GPS is compromised.

This patent pending technology delivers a navigational sensor capable of measuring distance and velocity with extreme accuracy and with less hardware than any other system with similar characteristics.

Australia, 7th December 2023 – Advanced Navigation, a global leader in AI robotics and navigation technology, has been awarded a grant by the Australian Department of Defence to advance the nation’s domestic manufacturing capability for photonic chips.

In October 2023, Advanced Navigation deployed its micro hovering autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Hydrus off Rottnest Island, Western Australia. Dead-reckoning is the term given to approximate one’s current position based on estimated movements from a previously known location. That is, having your starting point coordinates, then estimating heading (direction) and distance travelled between each change in direction, using velocity and time, to calculate where you are now.
