The Cost of Navigating Below Surface

We know how costly and difficult it is to operate underground, without the benefits of GNSS/GPS that surface operations may take for granted. Underground vehicles are often dependent on beacons and substitute technology to navigate in an environment where precise positioning is a constant battle. Because of this, vital mapping and surveying tasks are frustratingly time-consuming, and the ambition for autonomy grows further from realization without a reliable navigation solution built to address the challenges you face.

GNSS-Free Precision Navigation

We bring new technology to this market that can unlock opportunities that were previously not considered possible. Through our broad range of MEMS and FOG-based inertial navigation systems, we can provide precise positioning and orientation data across underground vehicles, large and small. Our technology solutions provide continuous positioning on the vehicle, rather than relying on an external network of sensors, as is the current state of play in mining.

FAQs

What makes your INS rugged enough for underground mining conditions?

Our products are tried and tested across mining operations and engineered to perform in underground environments. Built to MIL-standards for high durability, they maintain consistent performance in the presence of shock, heavy equipment vibration, dust, and temperature fluctuations found in subterranean operations.

How does your INS maintain accurate positioning without GNSS/GPS available for underground vehicles?

Our core INS uses high-grade gyroscopes and accelerometers with advanced sensor fusion for reliable dead-reckoning, gyrocompassing and north-seeking. Our INS can take external aiding inputs for improved position and orientation accuracy, such as speed measurements, vehicle sensor data, and even existing beacon infrastructure to further refine positioning.

How does your INS handle sudden vehicle stops, impacts, or environmental disruptions?

With high shock tolerance and rapid stabilization, our products are built to ensure continuity of your navigation data during harsh operational events underground. Designed for dynamic and unpredictable environments, our INS can maintain accurate position and orientation, and features robust algorithms that filter out noise and correct for disturbances caused by sudden stops or shocks.
