Advanced Navigation and Intuitive Machines join the leadership of #NASA and the Australian Space Agency to undertake safe and peaceful space exploration while gaining a deeper understanding of Earth’s own satellite, the Moon. Speaking with #9News, Advanced Navigation co-founder and CEO Xavier Orr and #IntuitiveMachines CTO Dr. Tim Crain detailed the mission. "We will launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket — 32 minutes after launch we separate and essentially are shot out of a cannon on our way to the moon," said Crain. Advanced Navigation is taking a giant lunar leap with its latest miniaturisation of laser technology. "The system uses laser sensors to measure a significant number of parameters detailing a vehicle's environment in space. It can see through dust and various atmospheric problems allowing spacecrafts to reliably land on the Moon,” said Orr. Watch the full story below with #9News. #spacetechnology #spacetech

🚀 From down under to the skies above, Advanced Navigation launches into #space! A key component of Space Machines Company’s Orbital Service Vehicle named #Optimus, our digital fibre-optic gyroscope, the #Boreas X90, took off on SpaceX's Transporter 10 rideshare launch earlier this week. 🛰️ Optimus will enhance the operational life of crucial space infrastructure and satellites by providing repair, refuelling and upgrade services directly in orbit. Think of it as #RoadSideAssistance in space! 🫡 Now in low Earth Orbit, Boreas X90 will optimise the vehicle’s manoeuvres, providing precise orientation and positioning for satellite docking and ‘orbital jumps’. Congratulations to the entire team at Space Machines Company, and thank you to the Australian Space Agency for supporting us in this new era of space exploration. This is truly a monumental moment. #Navigate to the comments to learn more about Boreas X90’s journey.

Another example of #robotics scientists turning to nature for inspiration. Developed by researchers from Stanford University, the new ‘ReachBot’ mimics the movements of the Harvestman spider, more commonly known as a daddy long-legs spider. It features multiple extendable boom limbs which it can use to reach out for rocks and propel itself forward. Each limb comes attached with a three finger gripper that grabs onto the rocks and uses them as anchor points. With the ability to #navigate uneven rocky caverns and lava tubes, it is hoped that ReachBot will one day traverse into the deep caves and caverns on the #moon and #Mars. Did you know only 24% of the ocean has been explored by humans? 🌏 Advanced Navigation’s underwater drone #Hydrus is making waves and uncovering sunken secrets at the #RottnestShipsGraveyard 🚢⚓️ Having inspected a colossal 64-metre shipwreck on the ocean floor, Hydrus simultaneously captured highly-detailed 4K video and imagery. The data gathered was further examined by the Western Australian Museum, revealing the wreck to be a 100+-year old coal hulk iron ship dating back to the 1920s. Thanks to Curtin HIVE we are not just exploring the ocean depths, but also creating digital replicas of these underwater marvels for history! Together, we will continue exploring the Indian Ocean with Hydrus in the hopes of uncovering more underwater mysteries.
